Jim

I’ve been using your model BEFCMU10 Cable modem (SN kbg30g304550) for the
past several years.

Began having problems with dropped internet connection, maybe once a month,
progressing to weekly failures, and now I’m getting disconnected several
times a day.

This older model modem has 6 led indicators – power, DS, US, on-line,
Ethernet, and USB. Under normal operation, DS, US, on-line are on steady and
Ethernet is flashing.

When my connection fails, DS is on, US may or may not be on, and both
on-line and Ethernet are off.

I go through the usual processes of re-powering modem/router, reboot,
refresh the network connection, etc. Eventually I get back my connection but
never know if the problem was Comcast (internet provider) or was it with my
computer, modem, etc.

When this problem occurs, I do a check with ipconfig/all and find that I
lost my DNS server addresses. When not working DNS indicated 192.168.2.1 –
when working its 68.87.75.198 and 68.87.64.150.

Greatly appreciate any troubleshooting suggesting.

Thank you

This isn't a Linksys newsgroup. So, it's not our cable modem.

Sorry, but it seems to not be a Windows problem or error. This is not
the support for Linksys. Since you stated that you have had this unit
for years, the problem is that the device is becoming defective. You
might need to replace it.

call your ISP technical support and go threw the procedure that they
gives you on phone , and if it showed that your router is resetting
every time you turn it on they should replace it for you if you have
warranty ,because i think the problem is in your router
