I AM UNABLE TO CHANGE THE FONT AND SIZE OF MY LINK BAR.
It remains in the default font no matter what I do.
Format>font has no effect.
What can I do?

XP/ FP2002

Did you modify the theme, save it under a new name and then re-apply it to
your web?

Yes. But where can I change the font for linksbar in the
theme and what do you mean reapply
I have been able to change the font but only in the
browser.
normal and preview continue to display it in default font.
Is there any way to change the default font.

You modify a theme under Format | Theme | Modify then you just have to go
thru the various options.

Then after you have made your modification, you must save this modified
theme under a new name, then remove the current theme, and then apply the
new modified theme.

I appreciate your help but I am missing something.
I tried it again several times and now have dozens of
nearly identical themes and dozens of different displays.
In some cases the link bars have broken down completely,
in some the home link does not display or if it does it
doesn't work.
I have created new link bars. In one case it displays
one way in normal mode another in preview a third way in
the local ie6 browser another in local netscape another
in ie6 from the server and yet another in netscape from
the server.
I selected format >theme
and then selected modify and none of the 3 options (text-
graphics-colors) allows me to change anything that has
to do with the font/size of the link bars.
you say:

thru the various options

Which of the options?

This site can be found at Montaukfish.net and you will
see the default font/size in the link bar in thee top
shared border. I copied it to the bottom shared border
and changed the font/size. There was no affect except
Home disappeared and the font displayed here stayed in
the default until published.
Sorry to be such a bother but I can't see why this is
going on.
FP just won't let go of the deault.
Thanx

.
Thanks much but it doesn't do a thing.
I'm not using the ugly graphic in the theme. I select
the the plain text link when creating a link bar when so
prompted.
Oddly the icon next to the top border in the borders file
is the IE little e
while the icon next to the bottom border is the FP file
icon.

The link bar does not include any presentation attributes.
Try this:
open the top shared border in FP.
Wrap the nav bar in a <div>
<div style="font-face: verdana; font-size: 10pt;"><!--webbot
blah....--></div>
The nav bar will inherit the div styling. [Note: does not work in NS4]

Just select the nav bar text on the page and set your font and size
- nav bar must be inside of a valid html block level tag like <p> or <td>

Or to modify your theme
Format | Theme | Modify | Text | More Text Styles
and select the .ms-nav styles to Modify | Format | Font
