Hello all,

I bought a new computer about 2 months ago and since I've
had it, I have not been able to click on links outside of
the web. For example, I cannot click on links within an e-
mail. This is not the biggest problem when the entire
address is listed and can be cut and paste (very tedious
mind you) into the address bar, but this is not always
the case. Does anyone know of a setting I can change or
any other solution?

Thank you very much, any help is appreciated!

Best regards,
Carol

Hi,

You may want to try re-registering a few of IE's dlls (as OE uses those
dll's for the hyperlink functions). It has fixed the problem for others in
the past.

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 urlmon.dll. Then go to:
IE/Tools/Internet Options/Programs/Reset Web Settings.
Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 actxprxy.dll and then repeat the
process for regsvr32 shdocvw.dll.

Check your settings here:

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Highlight URL:HyperText
Transfer Protocol/Advanced/Edit. Under Application used to perform action it
should read: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome

Go to start, run and type "regsvr32 urlmon.dll" without the quotes, then
click ok. Then reopen the internet and try to click on the links. This
re-registers one of the files for the internet explorer.
Here is a knowledge base article on how to do this:

Run this fix: Based on MSKB article:

Manual procedure: (Microsoft Knowledge article link)
