John,
Let's monitor the registry later. First, identify the changes happening in the Links folder.
For the registry, LinksFolderName must read as "Links" here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

Ramesh:
* Which part of the registry do I have go in order to tweak my IE6
browser ?
* Do you think it is possible to duplicate the LINKS tool bar on the IE6
browser by tweaking the registry. If so how ?
Thanks again,
John.
John,
That means the Favorites list is retained, the problem is only with the
Links folder? If some application is changing the contents of Links folder
or (redirecting it somewhere), you can find that using Filemon or via
Auditing
How To Audit User Access of Files, Folders, and Printers in Windows XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q310399&sd=tech
Download Filemon from
www.sysinternals.com (Hint: Monitor "Write" access
and set the filter for "Links")
Note which application is changing the Links folder contents.

As you suggested, I navigated all the way to User Shell Folders. The value
of data in FAVORITES is %USER PROFILE %\Favorites.
Similarly, for Shell Folders, Favorites has value = c:\Documents and
Settings\<Logged on User Name\Favorites. Hope this I what you are looking
for!
Also, O/S is Windows XP
Does the same occur to the Favorites? And what OS you're using?
Open Registry Editor and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders
-and-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders
What are the values assigned to 'Favorites' as seen in the registry?

Folks:
First I setup the LINKS tool bar of my Browser 6.0 with the icons that I
want. However when I reboot my Lap Top, all of the original icons are gone.
Now I have a bunch of icons that I do not want. By the way, the LOCK TOOL
BAR option is checked. Now I have to manually re-select the desirable icons
all over again.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Thanks,
John.
