Links to Excel

I have a pair of templates. One Word, one Excel (Office 2003). Word doc
gets info from various places in the Excel workbook. But I need to copy the
pair several times and place in different folders. Then I need the copy of
the doc to use the copy of the workbook as its source rather than the parent
Excel template without the tedious process of manually changing the source in
the "links" dialog box. How can I make sure this happens? And if it does
not, is there an easy way to change the source Excel file one time instead of
link by link?

Thanks.

how exactly are you getting the content from Excel into Word? If you
select such a "link" in Word, and hit SHIFT-F9 (toggles field codes for
the selection), do you see a path to the xls file? Maybe you can get
away with deleting the path, so that Word will look in the folder of the
document each time.

Otherwise, a short macro could establish the current folder and place it
in a document variable or property, which you can use in your fields.
