After upgrading to XP2 IE won't open certain links on web pages. Never had
the problem before and these links work on another computer without the
upgrade. I tried changing connections in LAN and other settings but they
still won't work. example is www.ableshoppers.com link on radio shack for
phone will not open. Any help appreciated. Thanks Jeff

Try right-click, Copy Shortcut?

http://www.ableshoppers.com/cgi-bin/go.pl?link=le000235&item=43-3556

BTW that opens in a new window and redirects to here:

http://www.radioshack.com/product.a..._name=CTLG_008_004_001_000&product_id=43-3556

So test that link too. Temporarily deactivate any popup stoppers
while you are having problems.

Tried that but still won't work. Your redirect link worked. I even
uninstalled Norton Internet Security and still have the same problem. Jeff

Where are you seeing that? I have only seen URLs with a pattern like
that in a few <IMG SRC= tags.

Anyway that one redirects too:

http://www.radioshack.com/product.a..._name=CTLG_008_004_001_000&product_id=43-3556

It doesn't go there directly however. First it went here:

Jeff....I am also having the same problem after updating to SP2. Also on some
web pages I see some blank boxes with an x on the top left corners. I have
downloaded the flash player and that don't work as well. When I go to the AOL
website and click on mail it says can't find server as well as other sites.
Never did that before this update! If anyone has answer to this problem, it
would be of great help. Thanks!

That's the address that appears in the new window that opens and won't
connect to server. Jeff

Some of the links have 2 http address. See Below. If I delete the
first one the second address is the proper link. Does that help
anyone what the problem could be. Why the referral link has 2 IP
address. Thanks Jeff

You have spyware on your computer.
First eliminate the spyware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

I have done those already and I still get the same results. When I hit the
link, it cannot find the server. Computer is clean from adware and malware
and have changed internet settings and then returned them back to normal.
Cannot fix this problem. Any advice? Should of never changed to SP2!

I just ran all the spyware programs cleaned out a few spywares then ran
Winsockfix. Seems like the Winsockfix did fix the problem.

Thanks Jeff

That's great for you Jeff! I wish mine was just as simple. I use the
Winsockfix and cleaned out any spyware using Adaware and spybot...heck I even
used PC Mighty Max and to no avail., when I click on a link it cannot display
the page. I cant seem to fix the problem.

Maybe try Firefox. It's a different browser and see if it's only IE causing
the problem or it's something else. Jeff
