Links keep rearranging

I keep having this annoyance and have not found a cause or solution. I am
using Win XP-SP2, and IE 6. I have arranged my favorites in the Links folder
that appears at the top of the IE window to have my most used ones shown or
at the top of the links list. Every so often (about once a week or two) when
I reboot or open IE the favorites are rearranged into alphabetical order.

I then have to redrag and rearrange the links in the order I want them
again. This is quite annoying!

What causes this and how can I make this stop? Or am I just going to have
to keep rearranging these links?

Thanks!

I think you need to enable the 'Enable Personalized Favorites Menu' option
on the Advance tab of the Internet Options Control Panel.
Also when you select your Favorites drop down menu there is an option there
to Sort Alphabetically... You may be selecting this option unintentionally
and so re-sorting your Favorites.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the info on the Internet Options...I did not have this checked,
and now I do. Will give it a while to see if this corrects my problem. I am
certain that I was not re-sorting the favorites.

Thanks again.

Well, here it is about 5 days later, and my Links were reset to alphabetical
order when I opened IE6. So, the previous suggestion did not help.

Anyone else have a suggestion?

Thanks.

Re:

I'd be willing to bet that you have your IE Favorites/Links folder contents set to show in your Explorer view. Double click My Computer...do you see your Links displayed on a toolbar there? If so, right click on the toolbar, untick the "Links" toolbar option, rearrange your Links folder content in IE however you want and they'll stay that way forever and ever amen (or at least until you reactivate the Links toolbar in Explorer again).:)
