Tools - Internet Options - Content - Autocomplete. Make sure that the box
'Use autocomplete - web addresses' is ticked, then select Clear Forms & OK.
This will clear all stored addresses from the address bar drop down box.

Hi Terry,

Thank you for your help,
I have tried and followed the instructions you gave me. But to no avail. It
did not work. I still have the same all long list of address coming down
under my address bar every time that I type a new one.
Any other ideas ?
Thanks any way, have a nice day.

Hi,
Possibilities:
Those URLs are stored in the registry in a TypedURLs key. If you type URLs
in via File> Open, instead of the address bar, they aren't saved in the
TypedURLs key and you can keep a select few URLs in the drop-down list.

Go to http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm and download "DelTypedURL."
This INF file will remove all entries.

These two freeware programs will remove some or all entries:
IE Address Bar Editor: http://www.freesoft.fsnet.co.uk/ieedit01.htm
EditURLs: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm

IE Privacy Keeper (freeware)
http://browsertools.net/IE-Privacy-Keeper/index.html can be set to clear
various types of stored data when the browser is closed.

Hope this helps,

Hi Don,

Thank you for the help, it should have worked ...
But as I am not the administrator of this computer, I can not install
anything on it ...
Any other way to do it ?
Thanks any way, it is appreciated.
Have a nice day.

Hi,
If you are able to run regedit, you can navigate to this key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
and delete the URLs (String Values) in the right pane. If you're not
experienced with regedit, you should not try this.

Or, the TypedURLs key only holds 25 URLs. Typing new URLs into the Address
Bar will cause older ones to be replaced.

Tip: If you type URLs in via File> Open, instead of the address bar, they
aren't saved in the TypedURLs key and you can keep a select few URLs in the

Thank you Don,

Sorry for the late response, but I was away from my desk for a few day ...
I am absolutly not expereinced in regedit, so I may leave it alone ...
I actually have a lot more than 25 address in my drop down address bar ...
Isn't it abnormal ?

Thank any way for spending your time to try to help me, I appreciate.

Turn *off* AutoComplete for web addresses.

Alternatively, if for some reason you want that left on,
and want to see *some* things in that dropdown menu
(aka AutoSuggest) you could clear your History periodically
as that is the biggest contributor to that list.

But it may be better to take the time to learn how that list works
because it can be quite a timesaver when trying to revisit sites
whether they are in your History or have been saved as Favorites.

Thank you for your time and help, have a nice day.

Good luck

Hi Robert,

My problem is that I have addresses in the drop down thing that I'd rather
not have ...And I can't get ride of them. And I would like to stop the list
to go on and on and on ... Every day there is more and more.
Thank you for your help any way,
Have a nice day,
