Links forwards and backwards

I have a word document with hyperlinks to attachments. The attachments aslo
have links in them back to the exact spot in the word document. However, when
I save the documents in our Intranet Server and launch them the links work
perfectly forward but not backwards - only takes you back to the top of the
document not to the exact spot. The same happens with a PDF document. Am I
doing something wrong or is there a setting that can overcome this or is it
just a charactersitic of IE?

Sounds like a bookmark issue. Make sure the links "back" are only to one word.

Example: "book mark" will break a link to a bookmark and default to the top of the page.
It needs to be bookmark

Steve -

I have seen this advice given numerous times here and in my experience it is absolutely
untrue. In fact, by default, if the words "back to top", for example, are marked as a
hyperlink and then set as a bookmark, the bookmark's name in FP will be "back to top". And, at
least on my website, in IE, Netscape, and Opera, multiple-name bookmarks work just fine. So
what's the real skinny here?

Craig,
It's a leftover / holdover from the days when spaces in links would break links in almost any
browser.
Newer browsers and servers are better at dealing with spaces, but it's been my experience
that if there is an issue with a bookmark that opens at the top of the page, the fix is to remove
spaces.

It's not the words that you highlight to create the bookmark, it's the actual "hidden" bookmark.

I'm curious to see if the original poster responds as to whether that was the issue.

Also, fwiw, you don't need Back to Top, a simple href="Top" will do the same.
