Hi! I'm a speech pathologist that writes a million reports
a day and duplicates so much info that I'm trying to get
my life as automated as possible. I just created a report
template in Word which includes a userform (a very cool on
if I do say so myself!:)for the student identification
info. I tried to use Access to do it, but my reports were
too complicated to do them in Access and the only way to
link the data "according to the wonderful Office Help
files" was to use a mail merge (I only write ONE report at
a time!). I would like to take the "student information"
from my Word userform and save it in a database AND also
be able to GET student info from the database quickly and
painlessly into my speech report and be able to update the
info in the database etc. According to "what I read", I
can import the info, but it would be read only and sounded
like it was going to be a cumbersome task. I can't even
believe that this powerful program can't do this seemingly
simple task. But, I can't believe how poorly the Help
Files are written either! LOL I truly appreciate your
help more than you will EVER know! LIsa

What you need to do is building the information form in ms-access.

You fill in the data into that form, and then press a button to send that
ONE record to a word merge template.

Trying to save, edit and manage data in word, and move it to a database
management system like ms-access means you have to while idea backwards.

You want to save, edit, hold, report and deal with the data in a information
management system like ms-access.

So, if you need some report,or "template" type document to be printed in
word, then by all means do so, but the data should come FROM a information
management system.

So, built the nice system in ms-access.

If you need a slick example of how to send the ONE record to word, then
download and try my word merge example...

I've sent another message about this, but when I went back to find your
original message I had a hard time finding it with the search criteria with
NewsRover. Don't know if it's it or me, but I had to really hunt to find
your message, and it's invaluable. Hope this subject helps other searchers.
