I have a new computer using XP home, and want to connect
my old computer using NT4 for workstation via an esternet
connection in the same room. The help file in windows
XP does not say it it can be done with an NT4 system
computer. it only says:-
The computer sharing its Internet connection should be
running Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP
Professional. This is called the Internet Connection
Sharing (ICS) host computer.
The Network Setup Wizard can only be run on computers
using Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows
Millennium Edition, Windows XP Home Edition, or Windows
XP Professional

I hope to share monitor printer scanner and modem. Can
this be done, hopefully using the Wizard?

Run the Network Setup Wizard on XP to set it up as the ICS host
computer.

NT4 can access XP's shared Internet connection. All you need to do is
configure NT4's network connection to obtain an IP address
automatically.

NT4 can also share files and printers with XP. Windows doesn't have
the ability to share a scanner.
