Hi

I have a word document containing bookmarks - I access them from a webpage
using a link like <A HREF="Bookmarks.doc#BM3">Bookmark nr 3 i filen</A>

But my problem is that this does not work anymore - I have narrowed it down
to an update version 3283 to Internet Explorer but do not know how to solve
this or find out what this update version does - so any ideas are welcome.

A working environment:
Windows XP sp 2
IE version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 update versions SP2

A non working environment:
Windows XP sp 2
IE version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 update versions SP2;3283

I can supply a simle test html and word file if needed

Thanks
Betina

I have looked into your links but did not solve my problem. I can get Word
to open but not on the bookmark I choose from the link - it always opens on
the top in the non workink environment but opens on the correct bookmark in
the workink environment.

Similar symptoms have been seen with plain HTML anchors too.
In that case what seems to work is to copy the URL into the Address bar
and click Go (or press Enter.) In previous replies about the issue
I have asked if the file encoding (e.g. characterset) has any signficance
in a poster's examples. (I haven't been able to find one myself when
I have encountered the symptom.) Unfortunately the implementation
of the characterset and encoding is as clear as mud so I don't have
any ideas of how to diagnose this beyond trying to detect some kind
of common feature in reported cases.

- I have narrowed it down
to an update version 3283 to Internet Explorer but do not know how to solve
this or find out what this update version does - so any ideas are welcome.

Won't it also depend on whether Office/Word is installed or not?
E.g. what if only the free Word Viewer is used for opening
..doc files?

I can supply a simle test html and word file if needed

That might help. ;)

Thanks

Anyone who knows where the update came from or how to solve the problem?

New info: it seems that if I change my filetypes options so that Word opens
within the browser the bookmark links works but not if Word opens outside
the browser.

I still would like for it to work outside IE since the Word editing
possibilities are not so good when integrated in the browser.
