LINKING TABLES

Hi,
I am new to Access. I have a database with 4 tables on it. I didn't set a
primary key on any of them. Now I want to link them. I don't know how to do
that. What I did was to copy and paste 3 of them into 1 and that way I have
all my contacts in one table. Is this ok? Or is better for me to link them?
Do I need to set a primary key?

Can I still make queries with the table I did with copy and paste?

I am totally lost here....thanks a lot!

hi,
1.linking tables refers to tables in other dbs so you wont
have to link your internal tables.
2.yes a primary key is a good idea. you don't have to use
an autonumber if you have a unique identifier(something
that is unique and only one in the table)
3.no sure about the copy/paste thing. read like you
combined all the tables in to one. that's ok.
4.queries should be no real problem but 3. above has me
confused somewhat.

Hi, and thanks HDR, the thing about 3. is that since I did not know how to
link tables I just put all the contacts on each of them together in one. Now
my boss is worried the database is not going to work to make queries....it
should right? Everything started because I got 4 different databases, if I
had not done that since the beginning now I should be linking the tables, am
I thinking right?

thanks

Carolina
