Linking incoming email in BCM

I want to link an incoming email to an existing Account
or Business Contact in BCM, but the email is sent from
another source. I've tried using the interface within
the email that lets me select "Link to History" then
the "Name", but after I save the email the link is not
made, i.e. the email does not show up in the history of
the Account or BC.

Does anyone know the trick to get this to work?

Thanks,

Carter

Can you provide the *exact* steps you're following? I have never had a
problem linking a message manually.

I have the same issue (as reported a couple of months ago). Inside the email
I want to link, I select Account from the first window and scroll down to
the appropriate Account in the second, then Save & Close. When I go to the
account, it does not show up.

Maybe it is a (stupid in my opinion) feature, that you are only allowed to
link an email from or to the address registered under that BC.

Cheers, Thorbjorn

I cannot duplicate this problem. Here are the exact steps I followed:

1. Select the email message
2. From Link to History dropdown list on the BCM toolbar, select Accounts.
3. Click the Select Account button on the BCM toolbar.
4. In the Accounts dialog, select the desired account in the list on the
left, then click the right-arrow. Click OK to save the account link.

I can then do 2&3 again and see the selected account in the Accounts dialog.
And when I open the account record in BCM, I see the linked message in the
history list.

I have the same problem. I follow the same steps. I have
spent hours searching for a solution and the only
references are these attched posts.
Thanks for help.

I am having the same issue as everyone else. The issue here is NO
being able to link an email to the contact being corresponded with, bu
being able to link a 3RD PARTY EMAIL to a differen
contact/account/opportunity.

I have followed the instructions given here, in Outlook, on every foru
and website available, and the only links I can make are directly t
the contact/account the email was sent from/to. But the emails Joh
sent me regarding Susie's account cannot be linked to Susie, onl
John.

Sue Mosher - you seem to be the most knowledgable person I have hear
regarding Outlook w/BCM. Do you have any solutions on the easiest wa
to link these 3rd party emails

Thank you for replying. I have reported the incident, when and if I ge
a response I will post it

The steps I've suggested in previous messages have always worked for me, so
I don't have anything else to offer.
