1) Yes

2) Use Hyperlinks. If the hyperlink target is another file in the same
folder, Word manages it as a relative link (although the default screentip
when you mouse-over is the absolute path to the target). Thus if you bundle
the set of files together the links still work on another computer.

3) Just experiment. It's not hard.

yes, this is possible. Highlight the text you want to create as the hyperlink > Insert > Hyperlink. There are two browse buttons on the right of the dialog box. One says "file" and the other says "web page" (for other files in the same folder, or web pages. The same way that the bookmark browse button will link to headers, bookmarks, etc, within your document, the file and web page buttons will link externally).

I'm attempting to construct a document that starts with a graph (imported
image) and is followed by a large table. Within the cells of this table I
plan to insert letters of the alphabet that link to another either another
Word2000 document and/or a website on the internet. When finished, I'd like
to bundle all this together (like on one folder) and send it as an
attachment to a number of people via email.

Q1) Is this possible?
Q2) If so, can I get a brief thumbnail sketch of the process?
Q3) For details - if necessary - is there a link to which I can be referred?

Thanks

Uh Oh! Tougher assignment. Now I need to link from a specific point in
document A within that folder to a very specific point in document B within
that same folder. I can get to the document... but not to the specific pint
in that other document.

Doable?

Open the target document and define a bookmark for the target location. Save
and Close.

In the source document insert the hyperlink as before: on the Insert
Hyperlink dialog there is a button lower right, called 'bookmark'. Once
you've selected the target document click this button: you'll see a list of
the bookmarks in the target document.

Magic! Thank you again.
