i have a database i am trying to use a set of excel spreadsheets in. each
sheet is data pertaining to a specific machine we have built. i am trying to
use these excel spreadsheets that each part of each machine is built of to
combine into my database.
each sheet can be imported easily and access doesnt complain about any of
it. but when i look at the data in access there are some number columns on 2
of the "sheets" that have #num? in thier columns where there should be
numbers.
the strangest thing is that when i have the excell workbook with the sheets
open and the table open in the database the numbers appear where they should
correctly in access. but if i close the workbook the #num? thing shows up
again.
what is going on here? there is one other inconsistency as well. when i link
the tables the first three automatically understand that i have a header row
and use those as field names. the last 2 sheets, the same ones giving me the
#num? trouble, are not automatically recognizing the header row and i have to
check off the check box telling it to use the header row as field names.
i have copied the titles from the sheets that work fine to the 2 sheets that
dont work and still i get the same trouble. there is no coding and i have
even formatted the header rows as text to just make sure. still it wont
import these things right. does anyone have any suggestions?
