Linked Table Manager Error

Using Access 2003 on my system, the Linked Table Manager
does not display any linked tables when opened, whereas,
Access XP works just fine correctly displaying the
expected linked tables in the same database. Detect and
repair did not work. I've track the problem to
acwztool.mde form att_frmMain that attempts to run
an 'AfterStartup' expression but fails. Since this .mde
is compiled, I can't view the code. It's possible this
problem can be fixed by repairing a corrupt dll. Does
anyone have a suggestion what I might try next?

Re-register accwiz.dll (the one located in the same folder where Access 2003
is installed)

Regsvr32 "path\ACCWIZ.DLL"

Problem solved after re-registering accwiz.dll. Many,
many thanks. I looked for an answer to this problem in
many places with no luck in finding this obscure nugget
of knowledge. What's your secret?

Hi Joan,

Thanks much for your help with this. I've seen the same
problem on every installation of Access 2003 I've done.
All are from a volume license Office 2003 CD. I'm not
sure if there's an issue with the fact that the three
machines I've installed on so far are all still using
Access 97 and Access 2002. However, the rest of the
machine hardware and OS components are mostly different,
so I suspect a bug in the Access install... like not
registering accwiz.dll for Access 2003. I wasted a lot
of time searching the knowledgebase and wonder why
Microsoft didn't list this issue and solution there.

Have a sparkling week.

I'm not positive on this, but I think it will occur if you reinstall 2002
after 2003. The linked table manager changed in 2003 (you now get a
horizontal scroll bar so you can see the entire path). Installing 2002
after 2003 will register its linked table wizard, which doesn't work
correctly in 2003.

I'm not set up to test this - If you open 2002 again, will the LTM still
work in 2003, or do you have to reregister again?

Installed 2003 and kept 2000 with CD given to launch
attendees. Same problem and solution worked. Thanx.
