Linked cells frpm excel into Powerpoint

I have copied a 6X6 group of cells from an excel worksheet and
pasted it into a powerpoint presentation. The link works - however when I
close
powerpoint and reopen it, the links no longer work. What am i doing wrong
 
Do you want the table to update, or remain static?

Instead of the standard paste you could try paste special to maintain your
links.
 
I have tried that. I tried paste, past special, linking. The only thing I
can get to work is to paste as a link - and then when you click on the link
in the powerpoint presentation, the excel file opens. it is not ideal, but
it is all i can get to work
 
Can you be more specific in how it's not working? Does it lose your table
when you reopen your presentation?
 
The table is there but it is only a static table. When I go to the excel
master document and make a change, the change does not reflect in the table
in powerpoint
