Anyone have a site or steps involved in connecting an Access 2000 FE to a
MySQL 5
backend?

I waited until you had an answer to say this, but I'm also doing this.
Someone else spent 5 minutes doing the hard part, and now it works (using
linked tables).

My main goal was KISS (keep it simple) basic security. Can't find a way to
keep even a non-sophisticated person who has access to an Access database
from simply copying and taking the entire database. For the 99% of people who
don't have the time to make a life out of learning it, Microsoft security
mostly just stops things from working rather than providing security.

Whilst it's true that learning ULS takes time, in my experience it is time
well spent. Once familiar with it you realise it's not rocket science after
all :)

Keith,

Thanks for the email. But despite being a heavy databases user for 17 years
(and Access for 12 years) , I don't even know what "ULS" means. And my main
experience with MS security is finding out how to get rid of it when it
breaks things that have been working just fine.

Sincerley,

Fred

I agreed with the security and with copying a database I spend 100s of hours
working on and someone with a little Access smarts comes in and I lose all
that work.

The site was perfect and exactly what I needed. Thank you.
