MrLou

I have created links to .pdf images from within a table in
a database. I've used links and Icon as the embedded link
but the base but the database continues to grow in leaps
and bounds. Basically i thought that by keeping the images
as a link would not cause the database to grow so quickly.
What's the deal. Is there some other way that I should
reference the images?
Thanks,
Mr. Lou

I think (but am not sure) that the problem is this. Access stores a cached
representation of what the image looked like "last time". The storing of
that cached representation, negates the benefit of Linking (versus
embedding)! So I think that you will have to store the image pathfilenames.

Another respondent just said (to someone else):

"Take a look at Arvin Meyer's PictureMgr sample database here

You don't want to "Embed" anything.. just link! Embedding PDF files i
NOT the same thing as linking them.

I would try linking to a PDF using the Hyperlink property of a contro
(text box, image, what have you) -- that would be a real link, no
embedding. It sounds to me like you're embedding PDF objects withi
your forums which is not what you want to do if you want a small DB
