Sidebar require Vista OS? .Net?

Does anyone know definately whether the Sidebar is a Vista ONLY app? i.e.
can it run on say XP? ---probably not. How about a non-aero vista?

Will it run without the presense of .Net?

Is there a link that describes the minimum requirements to run the Sidebar?

I believe you can. You just have to search Google I type: running windows
sidebar on xp and I found some links.

you can also try the "google desktop search" program, that indexes your hard
drive
and gives you a sidebar very similar to the one on vista...

I dont like search indexing.. but the sidebar is cool....
 
It runs just fine on my non-Aero Glass system. It stops looking like a
sidebar and looks more like gadgets sitting on the desktop though.
