I am building a a few DB's that will run on 97 and 2000.
One of the DB's will only run on 2000, but I need to link
the 2000 table to a 97 db. I have tried to link and then
convert, but Access 97 does not recognize the 2000
tables. Is there a way to get 97 to read tables stored in
a 2000 version? Thanks,

Best Regards,

Brian

There's no way to get Access 97 to read an Access 2000 table. You have no
choice but to convert the table to Access 97 format. An Access 2000
front-end has no problem working with an Access 97 back-end, so you
shouldn't need to make any other changes to the Access 2000 application.

You can't do that unfortunately, the only way you are
going to get the 2 databases talking, is if the 97
database were updated to 2000.

I have tried what you are trying to achieve and it will
not work. Sorry for the bad news.

Sorry, Steven, but you're wrong. It's not necessary to convert the Access 97
databases to Access 2000.

You can split the Access 2000 application into a front-end (containing the
queries, forms, reports, macros and modules) and a back-end (containing just
the tables). Convert the back-end to Access 97 format (Tools | Database
Utilities | Convert...) Now, both the Access 97 databases and the Access
2000 front-end can work with the Access 97 back-end.
