Hi,

I have a database with one table MyData1.mdb. I copied the
database to other location (CopyMyData1.mdb) and I make a
link of that table to the copied database. Actually the
CopyMyData1.mdb will be used by many users. I dont want
them to make any changes to the original table because
there are essential information. But this is not working.
How can I do that? Is there any way to do that? I though
that if you make any changes to the linked tabled does not
inform tha actuall table. Actually is that I want to do.

Please help me!
Thanks a lot!

There are several ways of doing what you want.

We need a little more information to make sure we are suggesting the
best solution.

Depending one what you want, you can just make a copy of your database
and let others use just the copy. If you update your copy, then you can do
the copy again. I have set up several situations like that were I have a
batch file to copy the database every morning.

I suggest you start by reading

Access security is a great feature, but it is, by nature a complex product
with a very steep learning curve. Properly used it offers very safe
versatile protection and control. However a simple mistake can lock
everyone including God out.

Practice on some copies to make sure you know what you are doing.
