Link table problem

Here's the problem. On a test Windows 2000 machine, I copied over an Access
2000 database which, in addition to some native tables, also contains 7
linked DBase tables. Access will open/display 6 of the linked DBase tables.
When you attempt to open the 7th table, the cursor will change to busy for a
moment, and that's it -- no error message or anything.

On both my development machine (from which I copied the data, also running
Windows 2000 and Access 2000) and the client's machine, all 7 DBase tables
will open fine. No problems. And I doubled checked -- the paths are all
the same. All the DBase tables are from the same application.

I also tried to delete and recreate the link to the problem table on the
test machine. No problem deleting the link. But I'm not able to recreate
the link. In the Link dialog, when I select the DBase file and click on the
Link button, nothing happens.

I copied the data from the development machine, several times via LAN,
floppy and even a ZIP file, just in case the file was being corrupted
somehow in the process of copying. Didn't help any.

The test machine is a clean install of Windows 2000 with SP 4 and .Net
Framework 1.1. After my program encountered the problem with the database,
I eventually installed Access 2000 to check the database with. That is when
I discovered this problem. I also tried installing Office SR-1. That
didn't help. I also did an Office Setup repair. Didn't help either.

There doesn't seem to be anything special about the table. 64 records, the
DBF file is 52K.

Anyone have any ideas?

Here's a follow-up. I took a clean Windows 2000 Server install, installed
IE 6, then W2K SP 3, and then finally Office 2000. I was able to open and
display that linked DBase table in Access.

I then took a clean Windows 2000 Server install, installed IE 6, then W2K
SP4, and then finally Office 2000. The problem with the one linked DBase
table reoccurred -- Access would change the cursor to busy briefly, then
nothing.
