I'm using Office 2003, SP1 (on WinXP, SP2). I create a link to an Excel range
in a PPT file. When I save the PPT file and re-open, if I try to update the
links, I get "The server application, source file, or item can't be found, or
returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application."
When I look at the Links dialog, the source is "???" instead of the excel
file name and range. I can't use "change source," because even when I tell it
which file to use, the range info is gone.
Before I saved the PPT file, I looked at the links dialog to make sure the
info was correct (it was).
I do the exact same thing in Word (create a link to the same range in Excel)
and it works. I can close and re-open the .DOC file and the link is fine.
Any ideas? I have created a VERY SIMPLE test with a simple .XLS, .PPT and
..DOC file with nothing in them but the link, and I still see this problem.
