Link placed into IE without permission

Hello, Could any one explain to me how to remove a link
that has been placed in the toolbars section on the view
tab. I have run antivirus and spybot removal tools and I
have deleted all but this link. Every time I try to do
something to remove it it replaces itself onto the desktop
and into the favorites local. Its driving me crazy.

I'm having the same problem, IE always changes my
homepage without my permission apart from placing the
links in my favourites and the desktop, and I don't know
what to do. Please help.

Ditto, and it happened while using Google search for a
particular dog breed and all of a sudden I was getting
download signals and tried to cancel them. The net
results is I have two folders on my favorites bar that
contain probably about 20 porno websites. Anything I do
to try to delete these folders does not work. Am
getting "cannot delete folder: it is being used by
another person or program. Close any open programs and
retry." Have deleted any related files I could find and
still no luck. Have contacted Comcast support and don't
suppose I will hear until tomorrow.
 
1. Answering a request for help with "I have the same problem." does not
help. Just wait and see if a valid answer appears.
2. Give more details about your problem. What is the link, what is the home
page changed to, etc. That way we can help you.
Poorly written requests for help get very little help!
 
i am having the exact same problem. it comes up as
i.lookup.com . it has literally taken over. i try to
delete from programs, favorites, delete cookies, temp int
files, etc. no avail. i am thinking of removing the IE
from my Dell computer completely and reinstalling it. is
this now linked to my IE? HELP, i'm going crazy too.

Then, for the general hijack case, the best way to start is to get Ad-Aware
6.0, Build 181 or later, here:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/. Update and run this regularly
to get rid of most "spyware/hijackware" on your machine. If it has to fix
things, be sure to re-boot and rerun AdAware again and repeat this cycle
until you get a clean scan. The reason is that it may have to remove
things which are currently "in use" before it can then clean up others.

Another excellent program for this purpose is SpyBot Search and Destroy
available here: http://security.kolla.de/ SpyBot Support Forum here:
http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi. I recommend
using both normally. After fixing things with SpyBot S&D, be sure to
re-boot and rerun SpyBot again and repeat this cycle until you get a clean
"no red" scan. The reason is that SpyBot sometimes has to remove things
which are currently "in use" before it can then clean up others.


Note that sometimes you need to make a judgement call about what these
programs report as spyware. See here, for example:

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard here to help prevent this kind of thing from

before you can do much about fixing them except to apply some general tools
like AdAware and/or SpyBot S&D (see below). Start here:

Download HijackThis, free, here:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip it to any convenient folder, start it then press Scan. Click on
SaveLog when it's finished which will create hijackthis.log. Now click the
Config button, then Misc Tools and click on Generate StartupList.log which
will create Startuplist.txt

Then go to one of the following forums:
