Joe

I am trying to find out how I can make the login on our home page to allow
members access to our Welcome page by using their email address which in on
a page on our site.

This is the page that I refer too http://users.bigpond.com/linkingseniors/
and I run the helpdesk for our members here.

I can maintain the web site OK but this type of thing is a bit beyond me.

Is it possible that someone here who is knowledgeable in this would be
prepared to communicate direct with me and to post the details that may need
to be exchanged could be quite boring to others.

Also is this the correct group for this type of questions, if not can you
tell me which one is please.

If not any suggestions please.

Disappointed I am to say that this is the first Microsoft Newsgroup that I
have posted a question in and not had any offers of help.

Ah well...............

Yes, you can do it but you need script. Does your server host support
ASP, PHP? Does it support Access or another database?

Do you want to allow them to login with only the email address or with
email address and password?

Do a google search for the script language supported on the server +
login, e.g., "ASP login? w/o quotes.

By the way, your member's area is not secured right now. Anyone who
knows HTML can find out the password.

Thank you PC for your reply, would you be inclined to help me with this and
if so could you contact me direct as I don't want to put certain things
here, which I'm sure you understand.

We thought that we did have the members area secure so that shows how little
we know about it -:))

Appreciated

Remove the JavaScript login script you have
- anyone can view source to find it
See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825451
Your host will have to support subwebs and unique permissions under the FP Server Extensions
