Link existing table

I want to link my existing table (which has forms created)
to and XL file. When I do a link it creates a new table.
Can't I link my existing table?? I don't want to have to
recreate my forms and queries.
 
Hi Sam,

You can't link external data to an existing table. Instead - after
making a backup copy of your database - rename your existing table and
then create a linked table with the original name.

After linking per your suggestion I don't seem to be able
to get my replicate. I go through the process and it
appears that everything is fine. However, when I look at
the replicate the linked table is not there. Can a linked
table have a replica?
