Lines in header

I need to have two long vertical lines, with one horizontal line at the
bottom, at the right-hand edge of my pages of a Tender document. (These
'columns' will be filled in with prices by hand by the Tenderers).

I can insert these lines from the Drawing toolbar in the Header but, for
some reason, they will not Group!

Has anyone idea of the reason and how I can put this right, please?

Since you don't mention version of Word or how you are going about making
the attempt to Group, this is only a guess - but if you are selecting the
lines to be grouped by using a Select All command the H/F box content are
being selected instead of the lines, which will prevent Grouping. IOW, the
H/F boxes can't be included in a Group.

Try selecting one line, then hold Shift while you click the others, then
Group.

Sorry - I am using Word 2003. I am not using Select All; I click on one
vertical line, hold down Shift and TRY to click on the next vertical line
(and horizontal line) to no avail. The first one becomes deselected and the
second one is selected. I haven't come across this problem before.

Unusual, as shift-clicking is typically quite reliable... Try one of these
ideas:

In the H/F, click the Select Objects button (white arrow) on the Drawing
Toolbar, drag a marquee around the lines. If that doesn't work...

Go to Tools>Customize>Commands & in the Drawing category drag Select
Multiple Objects to your Drawing Toolbar (I put it right next to the Select
Objects button). When you close the dialog box go to the H/F & click the new
button. All objects should be listed in the dialog that pos up, check the
ones to select (or Select All), then click OK.

If neither suggestion works there must be a deeper problem that suggests a
corrupted doc, so post back with your results.
