Lines around text boxes and autoshapes

I use alot of autoshapes and text boxes with color backgrounds but no lines
around the border. All of a sudden I am getting lines around boxes and
shapes when I preview and when I print but they do not show in my current
work screen. I double checked the format and it is correct, but I can not
get rid of the boxes. Help!

Are you printing in greyscale / BW?

If so you might like to try View > Greyscale (View > Color / Greyscale >
Greyscale in versions before 2007) which should show you a preview. Use the
settings menu to change the print settings to one which doesn't show the line.

I have a similar problem: I can add, edit, display, and view shapes and text
boxes in print preview, but when I print, they aren't there. The text comes
through, but no shapes. Ideas??

Thanks!

Thanks for the ideas. I'm in M/S Office Education & Student edition 2007.
Using Vista. I think I've updated all drivers etc. I can print color and
all from the web, in Excel and in my photo print probgrams -- it's just Word
and P. Point that seem to be the problem and then only shapes & text boxes.

Well that was easy enough, but the results suck! When I print the PDF file,
it shows the color borders etc. -- complete document, but only prints the
color text, i.e. no borders, no color text. I'm going to try another on-line
chat with HP to see if they can figure it out.

Well, daboide sent me a sample slide that doesn't print correctly for him,
but it prints fine here. So I'm leaning toward printer drivers. If those are
definitely the most recent available for your printer and operating system,
then I'd call the printer manufacturer and have a chat with their support
people.

Sorry about the triple post.

Try Office Button | PPT Options | Advanced. In the Print section, see

selecting "High Quality" fixes it.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm in M/S Office Education & Student
edition
2007.
Using Vista. I think I've updated all drivers etc. I can print
color
and
all from the web, in Excel and in my photo print probgrams -- it's
just
Word
and P. Point that seem to be the problem and then only shapes &
text
boxes.

:

Which version of PowerPoint?

Have you checked for updated printer drivers?

I have a similar problem: I can add, edit, display, and view
shapes
and
text
boxes in print preview, but when I print, they aren't there.
The
text
comes
through, but no shapes. Ideas??

Thanks!

:

Are you printing in greyscale / BW?

If so you might like to try View > Greyscale (View > Color /
Greyscale

Greyscale in versions before 2007) which should show you a
preview.
Use
the
settings menu to change the print settings to one which doesn't
show
the
line.

I use alot of autoshapes and text boxes with color
backgrounds
but
no
lines
around the border. All of a sudden I am getting lines around
boxes
and
shapes when I preview and when I print but they do not show
in my
current
work screen. I double checked the format and it is correct,
but
I
can
not
get rid of the boxes. Help!

I'm still leaning toward printer drivers.

If yours are up to date for your printer model and operating system, yet
it's still not printing properly, then I'd call the printer manufacturer
support line.

I got nuthin'. Sorry.

If you want to send me a couple of sample slides that exhibit the
non-printing issue, I'm happy to take a look. Mail it to echos at indy

net. Please include a description of the issue so I remember what I'm
supposed to be looking at!

Just off line with HP, they don't have an answer either. I tried
printing
a
spreadsheet with graphs and got all but the formatting of the graphs
and
the
data lines -- some borders and titles, but not the whole thing.
FRUSTRATION!
This all worked with this hardware before. It has to be in a Windows
update
someplace that's changed a setting -- ya think?

:

Wow, I don't have any idea, especially since you've updated printer
drivers
and you can print from other applications. Only thing I know to
suggest
at
this point is that you create a PDF of the PPT file and try to print
that.

Woop woop!!! I have just had the same problem and seem to have worked it out.
In the formatting palette, you should have the colours, weights and fills section. Just make the line 100% transparent and it will go away,
Formatting palette> Colours, weight and fills>Line-100% transparent.
Hope this can help someone,
Doc Nat :-)
