Line of text not printing

I have been using an HP Deskjet 850c on my old computer
running Windows 95 with no problems. I am using the same
printer on my new Dell computer running Windows XP.
When using Word, Excel and Wordpad, the second line of
text on every page is totally omitted, however far down
the page I start to type. I have run the troubleshooter
and cannot find the problem. The strange thing is that
the text prints out perfectly if I print a test page from
the printer or if I type in Notepad, also if I print
anything off the web or from Outlook Express. Please,
please help - I'm desperate!
