Line Count in a document

Is there a way to specifically set up the line count (globally, if possible) in order for Word to only count the lines with text (or other), but to leave out the blank lines in the total lines of the document? For every document I type for the doctors that I work for, I have to have a tally of how many lines were typed, all inclusive. Which means that if the program can do it for me, it will save me a lot of time by not having to count every page after it is printed or in the layout screen.

Word does not count "blank lines." It does count empty paragraphs. Be sure
you do not give it any of the latter. Instead of pressing Enter twice to get
a "blank line," use Space Before/After in the paragraph format. A quick way
to add 12 pts Space Before (the equivalent of a blank line) to a paragraph
is to press Ctrl+0 (zero).

There should not be any blank lines. If you want a space between
paragraphs, change the space before or after setting in the
Format>Paragraphs dialog.

For documents that you have already created, save the document, then use
Edit Replace to replace ^p^p with ^p. Then get the line count and close the
document without saving it again.
