limited user accounts and games

Ok, I've just started using xphome after moving from win98 and linux (my
old box died of old age). Here's the problem:
I've loaded games onto a new presario laptop (half-life and hl opfor),
and I can only play them if I am logged in as root (administrator). I've
set my system up so that the admin profile is only used for proper admin
stuff, and try to keep normal usage to the limited user acounts. I don't
want to rely on the root account for the fun stuff - all the accounts
should be able to play games, surely?
I've tried faffing around with cacls and achieved nothing, so I was
wondering if anyone out there had any other ideas I could try (related
to the issue at hand and not containing references to goats etc ).
