Limited User Account Printing

We have a new Dell pc with XP pro. It also came with Norton Internet security.

I have set up the family as limited user accounts in Windows Xp Pro.

As a result they cannot print to to either the printer connected directly to
the pc or to a printer attached to another networked pc.

When you click on print it looks like the doc has gone to print but nothing
comes out the printer and nothing shows up in the Printer queue. I do get an
error message after a few mins saying "Unable to Print to this Device - no
device installed".

If I convert their accounts to Admin accounts they can print to both
printers no problem.

I would prefer to keep them as Limited Users if possible.

I looked on the Web their seems to be a large number of people with the same
problem - using XP Home or Xp Pro! Is this a general problem with XP?

Any suggestions

HP PSC 7300 (multifunction) directly connected and a HP 850 Cxi connected to
the other pc.

No there should be no issue when running with inbox drivers. What printer
do you have?

In printer properties, advanced, set it to print directly to the printer
instead of using the spooler. It's a known problem with Norton products.

Thanks I will try this

Do I have to do this in an admin account or in each limited account? I
assume I also have to do it on the printer attached to the other PC?

I looked previously at the HP and Norton sites and could find nothing on this.

In the Admin account. It will slow down printing, but that's the penalty
you'll pay for using a Symantec product!!!
