Using Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1593.0
Advance Membership.
all Administrator Options in Window Defender is turn on.

Windows Defender features: Protection features for all users, whether or not
they have administrator rights on the computer

When running Windows Defender on Limited Account XP SP2 several issue still
exist. this issue need to be listed on Release Notes.

For Window Defender team try using Window Defender on Window XP SP2 with
Limited account and change the Internet Explorer 7 Homepage(make sure that
you have advanced membership selected). result is No Apply Action
button(greyed out), No selection to permit and deny and a stuck Window
Defender icon with ? on notification area.

When unknown software is detected "APPLY ACTION" button is also greyed out
and
everything is permitted automatically leaving user with Windows Defender
icon with ? on system tray.

no point of alerting user about homepage change or unknown software if
Window Defender will automatically permit the Homepage change and unknown
software. all your doing is giving me icon with blue ? stuck on my system
tray

when log in with Limited Account try using Runas command with Window
Defender look at the error message with numbers Access Denied

i posted this bug several times during the first release of Window Defender
beta 2.

Hi GT,

Thanks for the excellent report, I wish I had a better answer for you, but
this is a bug in Windows Defender. The best workaround I can offer is to
turn off the "not yet classified" prompts.
We have identified the fix, but I don't know when we will make it available.

Thanks for using Windows Defender,
Joe

Is this also a bug Windows Defender user select action to "permit" for
unknown software and Window Defender would not remember the actions to
"permit". It would just keep alerting user until they add it on the do not
scan files/locations which i do not recommend to anyone unless they truly
trust the software or the company.

It would be great to see the fix coming this month. Window XP user should not
have to wait for Vista to get this fix.

The check for update is also greyed out when user is logged on with limited
account. I also can not access Microsoft Update to get definitions. The
automatic update definition distribution does not work very well on my
computer since i turn off this computer constantly and not connected all day.

Thanks so much for the detailed information regarding Defender. I keep
getting the Windows yellow alert to have Defender installed but I already
have an excellent defense system made by CA (Computer Associates) called
eTrust which I have had for 2 years and haven't had any infections etc. In
other words, I've decided "if it ain't broke..........". Besides how much
"protection" do I need??
