Hi, suppose I live in a dormitory; and i don't want my
roomate to be able to turn on my computer and use it. How
would I set it up so she couldn't? I don't want her to be
able to simply cancel around my profile settings...I don't
want her to use it period...Please help.

thx

I'd suggest asking this in a newgroup related to whatever operating system
you're using.

This newsgroup is for questions about security in Access, the database
product.

Hi Tess. As the other poster noted, this area is
meant for help with a database application
called "Access". I understand that you are reading this
newsgroup to be one for issues relating to access to
Microsoft products. Since this is a very understandable
interpretation, please allow me to answer you here:
If your roommate can cancel around your profile
settings and use your machine, there is no way short of
physically locking the machine away to secure it. You
would instead need to upgrade to a more secure operating
system. I'm sorry that this is the only solution, because
on a student's budget, upgrading can be tough. On the
bright side, I think if you are able to upgrade, you will
find that the machine is much more stable overall. No
student wants to lose their term paper because another
application crashed, and XP minimizes this kind of
problem.
