I'm setting up a print server on 2003 for our migration to AD. Easy
enough to set up, but have a question:
I have about 150 printers to install, and don't know if I should put that
many on 1 server. The Novell server handled them just fine, but I have
concerns that 2003 can handle that many. There are about 10 different
models, HP and Lexmark, none are extreme load. There is a mix of 98SE and
XP for the PCs, I have read that 98 is a smaller load on the system.
Anybody have some real-world guidelines?
I found a paper on MS site, called "Windows Server 2003 - Print Server
Scalability and Sizing Technical Overview" The paper give NO real help,
only very general information and broad guidelines. There is a section on
performance monitoring, but I am unable to figure out how to follow the
directions - I can't get to where I'm supposed to select Spoolsv.exe from
the instance list. Can anyone give me real-world directions to follow, that
work?
Thank you - Randy
