See how dangerouse it can be I'm just thinking about "that which should not be named" an me pc is coming over all funny like.

Abarbarian - hi. I wasn't even aware that there was (is?) 'illegal' material on the net. I'm now aware that there is vile puerile material from ill people. I regret my ignorance of the net. Thanks for your time and info.
Is it possible to hint re 'motoring' downloads? I assume this has nothing to do with 'Top Gear'!

Hi Jaded, I think that was a tpyo and NIP meant 'monitoring' ;)

There have been well publicised instances of individuals being prosecuted by either RIAA (USA) or BPI (UK) not so much for downloading stuff, more for offering thousands of mp3 files for download which obviously is illegal.

Everybody who downloads unpaid for content risks prosecution, although imo the risk is small.

In an attempt to stop people stealing their product some record companies have offered what looks like a song but is in fact a virus. If you don't have 'show file extension' enabled in your operating system when you click on that song you've downloaded instead of sweet music to your ears you'll then have a rather nasty virus.

Oh, it had an 'exe' extension not an mp3 extension. Oh dear

War is war I guess.

Though more and more, many musical acts are offering their product for free and making their living by touring, which is why ticket prices for concerts have risen so dramatically.

It will be interesting to see how things progress in the next few years.

Never ever ever trust an `exe` as far as you can throw it :)

Using LimeWire and P2P Software Safely
http://www.limewire.com/support/ftc4.php

The 'Limewire' P2P Software is one of the best P2P apps.
They just made more security improvements.

Not sure what "site" you refer to.

From the FTC
"Or you may unwittingly download pornography labeled as something else.
Damn it, not porn again....
