Hi,

I have a Lightscribe drive (HP made) that is about a year old. I love
it, but it takes 28 minutes to burn a full label at highest quality.

I was reading an article from HP that said "speed improvements would be
made in the future due to release of updated drivers, allowing existing
drives to burn labels at higher speeds once updated."

Has this happened yet? I can't find anything on the HP site. I did
read that Verbatim says they are coming out with a Lightscribe disc
that "improves burn speed by 30%" but I was certain the DRIVE
controlled the burn speed of the label, not the disc itself.

Hi cobbcity!

I have several lightscribe, all benq and it does appear that 28 minutes is
about right for full image, high quality imaging.

You might try here for firmware upgrade

club cd freaks is a good place to ask about lightscribe and hp burners

If you got info about faster verbatim disks, please post it or email me.
thanks.

cobbcity:
You might want to take a look at
http://www.lightscribe.com/support/index.aspx?id=307 and download the items
listed, including the free version of the SureThing 4 SE label software.
Printing LightSpeed labels with that software has really cut down on
printing time as compared with using the Nero label software which we had
been using. For example, printing time for a basic LightSpeed label at the
"best" setting containing just text (no graphics) such as the title of a
music album, performer's name, and number of tracks takes less than four
minutes.

I appreciate the feedback!

Here is the article I found about Verbatim reducing time it takes to
burn a Lightscribe disc. However, I didn't think the disc could do much
to increase speed:

I use SureThing (the full paid version) for Lightscibe labels and 28
minutes is the best I can do for highest quality. When I read HP was
going to make improvements to burn speed of labels, I was hoping
something had happened since I got the drive!
