Hi all

We have just sold our old computer and the connected modem, which worked
well, suddenly refuses to be recognized. It's a LightFax 2880 and most
likely, needs a re-install. Unfortunately, I can't find the installation
disk (or disks?) anywhere. Does someone have a backup of these and could
e-mail-attach
the contents to me please?

Failing that, does anyone have any idea where I might be able to download
the installation files?

TIA

Was the operating system reinstalled? If so, the drivers were lost. Here
is one broad link:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=LightFax+2880+&btnG=Google+Search
If that fails, I expect I might assist you further. Also, you might direct
the modem files to c:\windows\inf,, if the system is intact.

you could possibly just install it using the windows drivers for "standard
modem"

otherwise you may want to look on www.driverguide.com

you have to register, but it's free

Thanks for the link but can only find ini strings - not the install files.
I have left a request with the manufacturer but am not hopeful of a reply.
The hard drive needed a reformat and Win 95 re-installed. I'm hoping
someone using this modem still has their installation disc/s and can e-mail
them as attachments (maybe zipped?).

Thanks for your help

As philo suggested, a "standard modem" may work especially since
you did find the ini strings.

An alternate method is pulling card, writing down markings on the
primary chip and posting them here... drivers for other modems
with same chipset should work, at least supporting data and fax
modes, though if it has voice and that feature is important, the
driver choice might need be more selective.

Hi all.. I found the website for the manufacturer (Lightspeed) and it had a
contact e-mail address. Within 12 hours, they replied: "Please use Windows
generic driver for 28800bps modem, it will work".

How about that! Help still available for an 8 year old modem!

Thanks again for your suggestions.
