Light pipe idea

Hi, I have a list of items, the lower items I have linked with the upper
items by a diamond shape that moves along a custom path. However I would
ideally like a illustrated "pipe" path with an object traveling along it, to
illustrate data moving from one item to another(there are actually one
database sharing info with another). Or any other suggestions would be
welcome. Hope this makes sense as its difficult to describe in text. Thanks
Tim

I did something similar. I made a 'pipe' in Illustrator. I made an art brush
from an asymmetrical gradient, then drew my pipe's path using the pen tool
(still in Illustrator). After applying the art brush to the pipe's path - I
had my pipe! I saved the file as a jpg and put it into PowerPoint as the
slide's background.

You did not say which version of PowerPoint you are using, but if it's 2002
or 2003 you can then make the object that travels along the pipe in
PowerPoint and use the custom animation called custom path to animate that
object. (The custom path can be drawn to follow the pipe - which is on the
background of the slide)

Hope this helps,
Martha
