Life without the net

No, i do everything i can on the net.

You people must live by the net.

What are you missing?

No more virus,no more crash out, etc.

How long could you go without the net then?

It would be awkward, but I'd survive.

I only use it for games, message boards, schoolwork, music and guitar.

Hmm.

Perhaps I am a little more reliant than I thought...

Half of me would love it, the other half would hate it ;)

very difficult indeed
we depend on it so much!

Perhaps we could learning something from people who don't use it at all!

Interesting question.

For me, I think maybe the net became a substitute for TV, which may or may not have been a good thing.

I haven't watched TV now since the mid-90's (which kinda coincides with me getting an Internet service) and as far as I can work out only decent TV prog was 'Life On Mars'

But I'm probably wrong.

I used to quite enjoy 'Casualty'

Crap, I've forgotten all that TV, lol

Oh, I dunno. No internet? I would read more, play more single player games, go down the pub more, would certainly not watch TV again, maybe start to paint, dunno, don't care ;)

I would finish single player games as I always just play the multiplayer versions

I would do my homework

I meet people up more frequently on my weekdays

I wouldnt be able to do my homework

etc etc ;)

Well if there is a choice in the matter, i wouldnt :)

But, if i have to- i dont have a problem letting go. I dont need it really. 56k really makes it a pain to do anything.... thats maybe why :p

No internet would translate into having to burn more gas physically running around to do things that can be quickly done on the internet such as purchase items, paying bills, researching things we once had to go to the local library to do, not to mention having to relearn how to write and then buy postage stamps to keep in touch with family.

If kept in the proper perspective it is indeed a great resource but as with anything in this world there is also the potential for abuse.

I'd most certainly survive but I wouldn't like it as much.

Well I clicked on this thread intending to add my thoughts.... but Spezi has covered exactly what was in my own mind :)

Yes, I'm sure we would all survive without it if we absolutely had to... but the internet is just so convenient. I would miss it far more than the telephone, or TV. When it is "down" for any reason, I actually feel slightly panicky because it has become such an important method of communication.
:D

Im thinking it would be good in some ways and bad in others.

I really enjoy the internet and it lets me keep in contact with friends round the world easily etc. BUT, in some circumstances i dont like it. e.g, having just split from my girlfriend, i find myself looking at her facebook to see if she's ok, what she's up to etc. I wish i didn't, but i can't help myself!!

Good for e-mail,online banking,buying things,and saving money.

Do not used it for games or mp3.

Yep i could last without the net.

For me the biggest use is as a source of information - both at work and at home. I could live without it, but everything would take a lot longer, be more difficult to do, etc. It just makes things so easy and quick - you've got everything you need at the touch of a button!

:)

When away on a course recently the only contact with the net i had was via my mobile phone.
That said it is amazing that the internet has not bene around for long, But everyone is dependent on it in one way or another. You really cant get away with not using it these days!
