I have TS setup for my company now but I am still confused
about the licensing for application mode. Can someone
please break it down for me. I would like to be able to
have around 10 users be able to connect at the time.

Please help me to understand.

Licensing is different for 2003 and 2000. Basically you need a Windows CAL and a Terminal Services CAL(TSCAL) for each connection (NOT concurrent connection).

For 2000 TS if 10 users logon from 15 computers you need 15 Windows CALs and 15 Terminal Services CALs (unless the clients are 2000 or XP Pro which receive free licenses from the Terminal Services Licensing Service's Built-in pool.

2003 works the same with two changes:
1. You may purchase per-user or per-device CALs and TSCALs, i.e. if 15 users logon from 30 workstations, purchasing per-user CALs is less expensive.

2. All clients REQUIRE Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server CALs to connect to a 2003 TS. 2000 & XP Pro do not receive grace connections like in 2000 TS
