Ilia
I have a terminal server installed on 2000 server and an the same server I
have installed and activated a TS Licensing server.
When I go to check the licenses through the MMC of the TS Licensing server I
see that there are 4 temp licenses issued to 4 different workstations (By
the way all the workstations that will use terminal services are W2k Pro)
and they will expire in 90 days from now.
Does it mean that we need to buy permanent TS CALs after this 90-day period
or the temp licenses will be renewed at that time?
Since all the workstations operate on W2K Pro I would assume that we do not
need to buy permanent licenses.
Is there any risk of having the terminal server license expire after 90
days?
If so what would be the remedy?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The only other workaround is to install your W2K Terminal Server
*not* as a member server of the W2K domain, but in a NT 4.0 domain
or in a separate workgroup. When a W2K TS runs in a workgroup, you
can install the Licensing service on the TS itself.
You might experience problems with user profiles, home directories
and so on, though.
you must install and activate a TS Licensing server, since
the W2K Pro and XP Pro clients get their free TS CALs from the LS.
