We have a windows 2003 server running terminal services and have 3 TS cals.
We would like to reassign a license to another pc but can not find any help
on the subject. We are running in device mode.

There is no way to reassign TS CALs from one client to another. That
should not be necessary either. If you don't use clientA anymore,
then the license that is held by clientA will expire within 51-89
days and be returned to the License Server automatically. In the
meantime, a new clientB will receive a temporary TS CAL, which is
valid for 90 days. ClientB will pick up the license from clientA as
soon as it has expired.

If your temporary licenses' 90 days run out, before old expired
licenses become available, then it means that you have more clients
than TS CALs.

The problem is that the client who needs the permanent license has an
expired permanent license and the permanent license that we do no need does
not expire until the end of January.

I understand, but that *does* mean that you have been using TS
with at least one more client than you have TS CALs. Buying more
TS CALs is the only solution.

The last Time I ran into this problem I contacted Microsoft using the number to activate the license that I installed, and they sent me a new Key. There is no file to edit or registry to crack, but they will reasign the license to you ( Call them don't just remove and reinstall the license ) . Once you have the license back in. just have the client's you want the licensed to go to conect back in.
