*** SORRY ABOUT THE DUPLICATED POST - I MISSPELT MY EMAIL
ADDRESS IN THE PREVIOUS ONE****

I have just bought a new PC with Win Xp, and the retailer
offered to instal thew operating system for me to make
life easier.

However, he didn't bother checking my name, and just
typed "Default" in the field that asks for your name
during installation.

Now every time I insall a new program, my name defaults
to "Default" instead of my actual name.

Is there any way to change this, so I can have my real
name in there?

When I look up the "About" dialog in Windows, it shows
that this product is licensed to "Default". I want it to
be licensed to me.

Can anyone help please?

.

Click Start - Run. Type REGEDIT and click OK. In the left-hand pane,
navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion.
Double click CurrentVersion in the left hand pane, and in the right hand
pane locate RegisteredOwner. Double click it and enter the correct name.
Close Regedit.

Also check the RegisteredOrganization value in the same location.

Thank you very much - worked fine. ANIA
