I found on your microsoft's website that if you have XP Pro on your desktop
you might install a copy of it on your portable computer. Does anyone know
more details on how to do this?

Hi

If you have XP installed on your Desktop PC you can't install XP onto your portable using the same CD. You will have to purchase a 2nd copy of the XP CD to install onto your portable.

David;
You apparently misread something.
No consumer operating system at least since Windows 95 has allowed
more than one installation.

Some versions of Microsoft Office allow installation on more than one
computer.

Read the EULA for details.

Greetings --

You didn't find that on a Microsoft web site. While retail
licenses of some Microsoft applications, such as the Office suites,
Project, etc., do permit such simultaneous installations upon a
desktop and a portable computer, this has _never_ been the case with
Microsoft operating systems.
