Trivial problem!
I've just rebuilt my PC in a new case. It's all up and running and I've
registered my XP Home Ed with Microsoft again. Problem is that I tried to
remove the license sticker to put it on the new case (unsuccessfully) and
have been totally unsuccessful in trying to contact Microsoft on-line. Has
anyone any advice on obtaining a new sticker, or will I have to write (using
the Royal Mail) to Microsoft for one?
Thanks for reading!

Unfortunately, if you have a bundled/OEM version of Windows that came with
the old hardware, you cannot legally install or use it on different
hardware - so moving the sticker doesn't matter.

Now, if you had a retail, or volume license, copy of Windows, you wouldn't
have such a sticker on your computer... and you'd be just fine.

Dont worry about it, MS has a stick up their arse regarding OEM so for a
variety of reasons they won't send you a new one. You're calling them
just draws attention to the fact that you're running an "illegal" copy
even though it got registered.

The license sticker is not removable because the OEM license it
represents is not legitimately transferable to a new computer, under any
circumstances.

Actually, it's *one* reason - you can't legally do this. Your EULA is a
contract. If you don't want to abide by it, don't buy an OEM copy, or don't
buy Windows at all.

The edition of XP was purchased independantly of the original computer and
was not OEM as far as I know. It came as the full disc with certificate, and
a sticker in the box which I stuck to the original computer.
