Hi

We have Windows 2000 Server

It is running terminal services in application mode.

Is it normal for a remote user (only logs on via terminal
services.. never at the actual server) to use up 2 server
cals?

When I check the licensing and the clients per seat this
is what i see.

Even though "jeremy" is only logging on via terminal
services its using 2 cals.

See the pic

Any ideas? is this normal?

All the remote computers are running W2K.. so the TSCals
are given out "free" buy the license server app.

People have reported that some clients will consume two
CALs. Have you tried moving your server into the per-seat
licensing scheme?

I think I now see why this happens.

here goes

user "jeremy" has logged in at the actual server.. (for
setting it up etc) but now only uses TS...

user "bob" has never logged in at the actual server.. only
logs in via TS

Jeremy uses 2 cals... bob only uses 1...

So the system must remember that "jeremy" has logged in at
the actual console and reserves a cal for him.. plus a cal
for TS.

Can you move your system into the other licensing scheme
(the per-server) to see if that helps?
