I wanted to setup AD for a friend's company and saw this ad -
http://thebestbargain.info/?page=allsoft&pid=&cart=
Do you guys think this is fraud, and how would one know - the prices are a
steal for Windows 2003 Enterprise Servers! They have their site also on
CNet - so I thought if CNet is having them, they must be legit.
I would be wary of any company that was reselling our product and on the
Windows Server 2003 description put
"...
Features:
Includes Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003 technology
...."
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition does NOT include Exchange 2003.
Contact them before you buy the product and ask them what SKU# they are
selling. This will identify the exact product.
Also notice that in they own FAQ they state
"...
f) Where does this software come from?
The software is shipped from Europe.
...." - Hmmm ?!
Now look at
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/06/03/oem_software_scams/
Some very interesting comments there about a number of OEM software
suppliers (including OEM Software Ltd)
Also notice that the "checkout page" is not secured in any way (not https
etc) so all you credit card details are unsecured and being passed to some
company whose domain name is registered in Malaysia and was only registered
on September 16 2004.
Finally - there is absolutly NO contact information anywhere on the web
site - no registered company address, no phone or Fax numbers in fact no way
of contacting them at all once you have given them your credit card details
etc - expect via a form based e-mail.
If something looks too good to be true - it probably is.
